Dog Left Alone In Car Gets The Ultimate Revenge

Duke doesn’t know how to drive, but that hasn’t stopped the pup from trying.

Earlier this month, Duke’s owners left him alone in their 2001 Mercedes-Benz S-Class for just a minute. Unwilling to wait around, the dog climbed into the driver’s seat and accidentally took the car for a joyride.

But the pup got into trouble when he couldn’t figure out how to stop the car.

Duke’s neighbors, Janie and Jim Black, watched from their home in Aptos, California, as the gold sedan rolled backward down the street. The car crashed into a retaining wall outside their house, bringing the vehicle to a halt.

When the Blacks went out to examine the damage, they found a crushed garbage can and a smiling dog looking back at them from the windshield. Duke’s leash, which was attached to his collar, got tangled around the gear stick putting the car into neutral, according to KPIX. Things could have ended tragically, but Duke is lucky there was only a little damage.

Janie and Jim Black snapped a few photos of the damage and the driver — who didn’t seem very sorry for what he did.

No dogs or humans were hurt in the incident, but it’s never a good idea to leave your dog in the car by himself. Dogs can suffer heatstroke in a vehicle, even with the windows rolled down. Or, like Duke, things can get tangled quickly.

As Duke’s misadventure proves, some of us are just meant to be homebodies.
